For AI agents

A concise, version-grounded guide to Fungi and its CLI.

Fungi is a platform for AI Agents with their own computers. Agents can work in local project folders with Shiitake, or in a Team through Fungi’s hosted services. The Spore npm package installs the fungi command-line client.

TERMINAL
npm i -g @fungi.computer/spore
cd your-project
fungi

Choose a model during setup. To use Fungi-hosted models, sign in and select a funded Team; using your own provider key or subscription uses that provider’s billing.

  • fungi opens the interactive conversation UI for this folder. Use fungi new to start a new conversation.
  • fungi login --provider fungi signs in and selects the Team for hosted models.
  • fungi doctor reports platform requirements, saved Fungi sign-in, model configuration, HTTP reachability, and installed version. It does not make an inference request or verify Team credit.
  • fungi run "your prompt" runs one prompt. Configure the model in a terminal before using it for automation.
  • fungi resume --last reopens the latest Session for this project.
  • fungi stop stops the shared local service without deleting saved Sessions.
  • fungi --version prints the installed version.
  • Inside a Session, /model selects a model and /thinking selects a supported thinking level.

See the CLI reference for the full command set and Install Shiitake for platform requirements.

Shiitake offers three command permission modes:

  • Full access runs commands as you, without the sandbox. It can use your files, network, and credentials on Linux and macOS. Select it with --yolo or --full-access.
  • Workspace is sandboxed and can write the Agent’s folder and temporary files. On Linux it can also use the network and reach ssh-agent; existing host-selected package caches can be writable. On macOS, Workspace does not grant network access, writable package caches, or ssh-agent access.
  • Read-only is sandboxed and can write only temporary files. It cannot write the project or package caches, use the command network, or reach ssh-agent.

Use --workspace or --read-only to select a sandboxed mode. If the required sandbox is unavailable, Shiitake refuses the mode rather than silently running with Full access. These are command-sandbox permissions; Web, MCP, and delegation tools are outside this command sandbox. See What’s new in Fungi 0.4.0 and Security and isolation.

Spore does not have a separate documentation site. Its CLI install and setup material is in Install Shiitake, and its commands are covered by the shared CLI reference.
